With the reading I think that my largest concerns boil down
to cost, quality, and social. These are the three that will make or break a
technology program in education. It all cost money and schools do not have it,
when they are budgeting all of their other programs and activities. What is the
quality of the product? Are the teachers happy are the students happy and can
we show the results. The final is social issues with the students. Can students
use the system for bullying and ridicule?
Some solutions for cost is apply for grant funding, in a
school district do a pilot school for a year. If the program works in the pilot
group than convert the district. The school system will still need grant money
or private domination for a large expensive change. Another option is to get
the lower product to start with and build up year after year. The problem with
the buildup is, you never hit the base line. This would give you substandard
quality. The social will not get fixed education is the only option. The
education would be to the teachers to help them catch social. Teachers can see physical
bullying just fine but they cannot see cyber bullying as easily or its impact
at a glance.
